It seems that plants are seriously becoming trendy lately. I mean, plants have always been awesome but I think they’re definitely experiencing a resurgence! (This girl’s super excited about it too!) Wandering through Target, you’ll notice an amazing variety of ones to choose from. As a frequent shopper of Target, this inspired me to write a post on planters. There’s so many styles to choose from and many places to buy them. If you’re considering adding plants to your own decorating concept, then allow me to help you begin the process. Today on the blog I’m sharing a guide to planters: the various styles and where to buy them. If you decide to buy planters and decorate with them, share it with me on Instagram, email, wherever. I’d love to see how it turns out in your home! 🙂

A Guide to Planters:
The Various Styles and Where to buy Them
1. Macrame Plant Hanger
Macrame is a beautiful trend growing in the boho decorating space. Hanging plant holders are as well, making this a great, trendy addition to your decor! These planters can be bought through large retailers like Urban Outfitters and found in small Etsy shops. Search around until you’ve found the perfect one. This could make for a nice unique piece, so take your time!
2. Woven Baskets
Is there anything more boho than a basket planter? Umm, no! That’s why I’m loving this unique twist on your typical planter. I just happened to have scored mine for $3 in the Target dollar section! By the way the Target dollar section is totally killing it right now with cute decor, so go check it out! If you don’t find them at your local Target, try checking Home Goods. And if you still have no luck? Try this diy for a cute, custom basket planter!
Aren’t terrariums just the most darling planters? If you like modern decor, you’ll love how a terrarium will look in your home! You can fill them with a variety of different types of plants but succulents are the most popular. Visit your local greenhouse or florist and see what you can find! Faux succulents can also be found at many craft stores, if you don’t want something real. As far as buying a terrarium, inexpensive ones can also be found at most craft stores, Home Goods and at just about all other stores I’ve linked below.
4. Elevated Planter
I’m seeing these planters everywhere and simply can’t live without them. I mean, they’re so darn cute! I love how elevated planters have a modern look to them, reminding me of something you’d see on your Instagram feed. In my room I like to blend mid-century modern decor with boho pieces, so this style planter is perfect! You can definitely achieve that look with elevated planters. Planters like these can be found at Target, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, to name a few.
Want to go a little more classic? Try putting your plant in a ceramic planter! There’s so many beautiful painted variations of this. I found that Anthropologie especially has some beautiful painted ceramic planters. And again with the Target dollar spot, they currently have small ceramic planters too! I picked up a light blush-salmon painted one and I’m so happy with it! It adds a nice touch to my predominantly blush color scheme. And can we talk about how cheap it is? Just $3, now that’s my kind of deal! Another shop that might have some nice ones is Etsy. If you want to support a small artist and are also looking for a unique piece, than this might be your best option!
Where to Buy:
Looking to find a more unique planter? If this sounds about right, than Etsy is probably going to be your best choice! Whether a woven basket or ceramic planter is what you’re looking for, Etsy has it all. The best part is that in buying from Etsy, you’re supporting a small business!
Umm, is there anything that can’t be found at Target? If you ask me, I say no! Target is great for modern style decor, like elevated planters. The planters you see pictured above were both found in the dollar section of Target! And aren’t they just the cutest? If you’re looking for planters at Target, I highly recommend you check the dollar section at the front of the store first for some great deals!
3. Wit and Purl
Remember how I mentioned above how great Etsy is for unique decor? Well, I have a specific Etsy shop you seriously need to check out! As a Pittsburgh native, its only fitting that I share one of my favorite local Etsy shops. Wit and Purl features beautiful macrame wall hangings and planters. So if a hanging macrame planter is what you’re looking for, give Wit and Purl a visit!
4. Home Goods
Everybody loves Marshalls, T.J. Maxx and Home Goods nowadays! What makes Home Goods different from the other two, is that home decor and food products are all they cary. That’s why I’d like to recommend this store, as they have more decor to choose from! Home Goods is another great store for stumbling upon unique finds. I rarely walk out empty handed.
Have a little more money to spend? If this is the case, Anthropologie is a great option! They have absolutely beautiful ceramic planters in salmon pink and blush shades. (Which means they’re totally on my wish list! lol) You can also find here hanging planters and tripod’s to put your planters in!
Looking for modern, trendy planters? Urban Outfitters has you covered. Their prices are slightly higher than Target or Home Goods but decor would make a great addition to your home. If you want to up your decorating game and craft a room fit for an Instagram photo, check out Urban Outfitters!
