An aesthetically pleasing space and coffee, can there be a more perfectly matched pair? If you asked me, I’d say no in an instant! Last week I wrote my first post regarding a coffee shop I found to be incredibly instagram worthy called 4121 Main. This Friday, by popular demand, I’m sharing another one my favorite instagram worthy coffee shops in Pittsburgh: Redhawk Coffee. This week Stefan and I walked into the ultra cute spot (located in Oakland) like a couple of critics, ready to see what Redhawk was like. And of course, it exceeded our expectations, as I’m finding most of Pittsburgh’s coffee shops always seem to do. In my opinion, Pittsburgh is most definitely a city flooding with amazing coffee spots. If you are continuing to love reading about these many places, then feel free to let me know, as I love hearing all of your feedback!
Question of the day: What’s your favorite coffee drink or alternative to it?

Instagram Worthy Coffee Shops in Pittsburgh:
With my keen Instagram research skills, I found Redhawk Coffee. A pastime quickly growing into a hobby of mine, is discovering and visiting local coffee shops. That’s why I’m so excited to continue writing about and photographing coffee shops like Redhawk. So with this post in mind, Stefan and I set aside a day to drive down to Pittsburgh this week. Through these experiences, I’ve found that visiting local coffee shops provides something unique past what places like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts can provide. While I still enjoy going on the occasional coffee run to Starbucks, as the suburb I live in doesn’t have any independent coffee shops anyway, I definitely see the value in giving local coffee shops a chance. With that in mind, I’d like to share with you a little about Redhawk Coffee!
My Favorite Drink Order:
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m a die hard latte fan. I love a good macchiato and I’m no stranger to a good iced coffee either but lattes have a special place in my heart. As a first time visitor to Redhawk, I wasn’t entirely sure what to order. This led me to choose my go to that never seems to disappoint; the vanilla latte. Every coffee shop makes their lattes slightly different whether that might be a little sweet or slightly on the darker side. I decided to ask for a little added sweetness to mine, just in case! After taking a test sip, I felt my latte tasted perfect!
For those with special diets: I wanted to add that Redhawk has options to create a drink that fits whatever diet you have! For an additional seventy-five cents you can opt for almond or oat milk. As someone who attempts to eat/drink vegan here and there, I’m happy to know they have alternative milks to make your coffee vegan!
A key thing to note, is that Redhawk is definitely a smaller coffee shop. So if you hope to order a coffee and stick around, I highly recommend coming early when they open or perhaps later in the day when they may not be quite as busy. They’re open everyday from 7am to 6pm but closed on Sundays. I suggest coming around 1 or 2 because they will likely not be as busy during this time, if you’re looking to grab a seat and chill here.
You get a very low key, chill vibe at Redhawk. A feature of this place that I absolutely love, is the window seats in the front of the shop. Sitting there, you may feel like you didn’t even leave home! Bonus, if you’re into views and people watching, you’ll get to do this too with the window seat! Another characteristic that I fell in love with, were the pink stools! I know, you never would’ve guessed I’d say something like that..lol Anyway, other cute touches I noticed were plants on the window seats and mis-matched eclectic chairs. So in summation, If you’re looking for a coffee shop that feels like home, I definitely recommend Redhawk! The environment is laid back, the seating super cozy and drinks amazing.
Now that you’ve read through my thoughts and opinions, I’d love to know yours! Let’s get a fun conversation going in the comments. 🙂 First off, what do we think of Redhawk Coffee? Secondly, what’s your opinion on independent coffee shops vs. chains like Starbucks? Are they worth it or do you not get all the hype? For me, I think we all know at this point I prefer a good local coffee shop over Starbucks, if given the choice! I do however, still love a good Starbucks drink every now and again. For my local friends, let me know if you check Redhawk Coffee out and what your thoughts are on the coffee and experience, I totally want to know all about it!
