It’s still winter and as freezing as ever over here in Pittsburgh. But guys, I couldn’t resist myself.. I recently found a Lily Pulitzer planner at TJ. Maxx. On one of the pages it reads; “Despite the forecast, live like it’s spring.” I’m just a warm weather kind of girl and this speaks to me. 🙂 People always tell me I dress like it’s spring in the winter months but thats just me.. hehe 🙂
So regardless of how freezing I will be taking pictures today, I’m wearing a skirt gosh dang it. I’ve been dying to bust out my pretty dresses and skirts. So today I’m going to attempt to layer up one of my favorite skirts. Hopefully I can add just enough warmth to keep from freezing! Let me show you how layering a skirt for the spring can work! Even if we have some time to go before spring is finally here.. 😀
How it’s Done:
1. Add warmth with tights, leggings, or socks
In the colder months; tights, leggings and socks are your best friend. Since we’ve made it difficult to keep warm by exposing the legs, we need to cover up somehow! Experiment with what looks best with your skirt. In my outfit I decided to wear a pair of black tights. Which are totally not adding all that much warmth for me, but they’re so darn cute with my skirt! Be smarter than me people. Pick a pair of thick socks or tights made for winter. Leggings are always a great option!
2.Wear warm shoes
I chose to pair my tights with a cute pair of ankle booties. Boots are a great option for the colder seasons, unless you’re reading this in Spring. In that case I’d recommend tennis shoes or ballet flats! If the forecast is on the colder side, I would suggest anything from ankle booties to Hunter boots. If you do choose to wear a pair of taller boots, then you might opt to wear boot socks. You know, the ones with the pretty lace trim that peaks over your boots. Love those. 🙂
3. Keep warm with sweaters and cardigans
We can’t forget about the top half of the outfit! To make this look cozy, pair your skirt with a cardigan or a roomy sweater. In my outfit I tucked in a spaghetti strap top and wore a sand colored cardigan.Spring is all about the fun colors though, so maybe choose a pink colored sweater or any other color you like.
4. Finish off with a scarf and gloves
If you’re reading this in Spring, you probably won’t need to follow this step. But if you’re reading this during the winter, you’ll definitely need step number four! A sure fire way to ensure warmth is to add a pair of gloves and a scarf. There’s so many cute options to chose from. Wear whatever compliments your look best! It wasn’t quite cold enough for me to wear gloves, so I ended up skipping this step.
