Happy Super bowl Sunday! I’m not much of a sports enthusiast but I know most of you are excited to watch the game today! (including my boyfriend, Stefan 😀 ) I’m excited to share with you one of my outfit idea’s for a good old Sunday church service. I’m also going to share with you a couple of wardrobe pieces that I wear quite frequently to Church. Before we get started though, full disclosure I was freezing taking these pictures. I live in Pittsburgh and we have pretty cold winters. In fact when we were taking these pictures it was 28 degrees outside. Yikes! :O However I braved the cold so I could create another lovely Sunday fashion post. 🙂
For the top portion of my outfit I’m wearing a bright pink cardigan and a floral tube top? I can’t remember what they’re called. Haha 😀 Both of these are from American Eagle but probably two years old. To complete the look I wore a pair of dark wash denim jeans and a cute borrowed pair of ballet flats. (from my mom’s closet hehe) These flats are also from American Eagle and the jeans, Forever 21. A good rule of thumb for Church is to keep your look on the modest side. Of course not to the degree that your clothes are making you really uncomfortable. So no, don’t wear a long sweater and jeans in the summer if you’re dying! Tights and a nice length dress are always a good compromise! I’m all for keeping my clothing comfortable. I believe girls shouldn’t be made to feel hot or uncomfortable solely in the name of modesty. There’s always a way to satisfy both!
Frequent Wardrobe Pieces for Church
Above I touched upon why I find it important to keep my clothes comfortable but still modest. Stay with me here because now I’ll show you how! You can have the best of both worlds ladies!
1.Tights and Leggings
These are a life saver, ladies. Don’t want to wear heavy jeans? Tights keep your look modest paired with a dress. As long as your dress length is reasonable, you’re good to go! Or you can go with my second outfit go to; a tunic, leggings and ankle booties. You can also alter this look with the seasons easily. In the Spring and Summer wear sandals, a kimono and a short sleeve tunic. In the Fall and Winter pair it with a long sleeve tunic, cardigan and ankle booties. See what I mean with options?
I can’t get enough of these guys. Not only are these great for when you actually are cold but you can throw one on for all those cute spaghetti strap tops you wish you could wear. I’m talking the ones that aren’t low cut and are simply really pretty! In fact they’re actually making a lot of high neck spaghetti strap tops. (I for one am loving it) A couple of alternatives to cardigans are jean jackets, kimonos and anorak jackets.
3.Ballets Flats & Ankle Booties
Guys, these are probably my most worn type of shoes. For church and daily life! 🙂 I recommend to any of my Christian ladies or anyone really, to buy these two types of shoes. My favorite place to buy shoes is DSW so I’d recommend starting there. You can wear ankle booties with any of of your leggings, jeans and most dresses. As far as ballet flats go, they go with just about anything!
4.Crossbody’s & Long Necklaces
A portion of this list is simply what I find myself frequently wearing to Church. Two of these things are cross bodies and long necklaces. I find that cross bodies are comfortable to carry around and very versatile. I’d recommend you get yourself a good quality cross body in a neutral color. You’ll find yourself carrying it around all the time. Trust me. 🙂 Long necklaces are a great accessory for dresses, tunics, everything! Target actually makes a lot of cute ones for decent prices. I always go to the jewelry clearance section and find some here and there. 😉
